Why Scooters Are Santorini's Secret Weapon
Here's what the travel guides don't tell you: Santorini was built for scooters. The island is tiny — just 76 km² — and a rented scooter can cross it in 20 minutes flat. You'll park on corners where cars queue for 30 minutes, slip through narrow village streets that are technically pedestrian-only (but scooters fit), and save a fortune on fuel.
From Kamari beach to Fira? Ten minutes. Fira to Oia for sunset? Fifteen. Hotel to Perissa black-sand beach? Twelve. When you factor in the time you'd spend looking for parking in a car, a scooter is actually faster for almost every journey on the island.
We've been renting scooters from our Akrotiri base since 2014. Our customers range from couples on honeymoon to solo backpackers to returning visitors who rent a scooter the moment they land at JTR. At €20/day with free delivery, it's the smartest transport decision you'll make in Santorini.
